So Much Has Happened: A Caregiver’s Emotional Journey is the culmination of Janis Hersh’s two worlds: a career immersed in providing healthcare and a personal journey of caregiving.
Janis spent 30 years in the field of healthcare management, navigating the complexities of teaching hospitals, community health networks, and the VA. But her most transformative role began after retirement, when she became the primary caregiver for her husband. During those years, Janis turned to photography as a way to understand and copewith this new reality. She discovered a passion for visual storytelling, finding beauty and meaning in the quiet moments that often go unnoticed.
Janis has studied with Emily Belz at the Griffin Museum of Photography and with Mary Beth Meehan at the Truro Center for the Arts. Her work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions, including her series Meadow Mist: A Year on a Farm, and her images are part of a permanent exhibit at the Truro Historical Society exploring the lives of Edward and Josephine Hopper.
Through her lens and her words, Janis invites other caregivers to step out of the shadows and see their own stories reflected in her work.
